Challenge: After auditing newsletters for all SouthComm properties, the digital team decided to migrate all our email promotions to MailChimp. This phased migration provided an opportunity to redesign the templates to be responsive and also utilize our CMS export features to populate content via xml automatically, saving the Creative Loafing Tampa marketing and editorial time producing the products daily/weekly.
Solution: Using the boilerplates provided my Mailchimp I designed prototypes in Adobe Illustrator, then coded the newsletter prototypes using HTML5 and CSS3. After the prototype was approved, I editing the code to add Gyrobase queries to automate the newsletter creation and added a script to upload to MailChimp. The new newsletter design and automation worked well, saving time each week from staff producing the various e-newsletters.
